Zoe performs her routine on the uneven bars. This is the most challenging aspect of gymnastics for her since it involves so much upper body strength. She also doesn't quite understand how she can use the momentum of her body to flip herself around or to cast off. The hardest part is the beginning of the routine, which requires being able to pull/kick herself up and over the bar (Coach Elyse provides a lot of assistance with this part). One tip the coaches tell Zoe is "remember to smell the bar", a reminder to keep your face pulled up close to the bar before you pull up. (I think Zoe is taking this tip literally... which must make the whole thing rather confusing for her!) « less
